View sourceKarstensens designs and builds fishing and specialist vessels and undertakes ship repair, conversion and outfitting in Skagen. Its shipyard services include steelwork, marine engines and propulsion, hydraulic installations, accommodation and surface treatment. Newbuilding projects combine its design and outfitting work with hull production and specialist equipment from subsidiaries and external partners. The shipyard traces its history to 1917. Historical project announcements include Borkumrif’s 2010 conversion: a 6 m lengthening, 2700 mm propeller and nozzle, moved wheelhouse, accommodation, winches and catch handling. The May/June progress account projected July completion; completion is not established. Its original 2001 newbuilding customers were Dan and Flemming Nielsen. The July 2010 Ocean Laura contract for Per Lund-Hansen and Kristian Barslund Jensen specified a 6 m extension of the 24 m trawler, a whaleback, raised wheelhouse and revised accommodation and catch handling; this account does not establish completion. Lunar Bow #500 is an 85.7 × 17.5 m vessel on order for expected delivery in July 2027. A July 2026 contract awarded to Orlogsskibe Danmark covers four naval environmental and minelaying vessels: OSK Design provides design, and Karstensens and Hvide Sande share construction, with delivery expected in 2028–2030.
