Uniform nickel-phosphorus coating of complex metal parts, including internal surfaces where solution can circulate. Low-, medium- and high-phosphorus systems are offered. Phosphorus ranges are 1–3%, 4–6%, 7–9% and 10–12%. Low-phosphorus coatings favour hardness, wear resistance and alkaline corrosion resistance; high-phosphorus coatings are more ductile and resist neutral and acidic environments. Heat treatment can increase hardness. Gold or silver topcoats add contact properties, while tin supports soldering.
